Can't defend takedown in UFC debut
Bessette dropped his UFC debut to Enrique Barzola on Saturday, falling via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 220 in Boston.
ANALYSIS
Making your UFC debut on a little over a week's notice is a tough spot for anyone to be in, but Bessette isn't going to beat anyone on the UFC roster unless he improves his takedown defense. He more than held his own on the feet, but he also allowed Barzola to connect on five of nine takedown attempts. That simply isn't going to get the job done in the best fighting organization in the world. Bessette is going to get another shot with the company, next time with a full training camp under his belt, but he will have to be better if he wants to see a third fight.

Adds fight against Enrique Barzola
Bessette will take on Enrique Barzola on Jan. 20 in Boston at UFC 220, Thomas Gerbasi of UFC.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bessette will be making his UFC debut after competing in Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series this past summer. During that fight, the 33-year-old took on Kurt Holobaugh, which resulted in a no-contest. Overall, he comes in with a 22-7 career record, and won seven fights prior to his bout against Holobaugh. On the flip side, Barzola is a proven fighter within the Octagon, and has won two fights in a row against Chris Avila and Gabriel Benitez, both as unanimous decisions.
