Loses for the first time in the Bellator 190 opener

December 9, 2017
Nica lost to Carlos Leal via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at Bellator 190 on Saturday in Florence, Italy.
ANALYSIS
Nica joined Bellator with an undefeated 5-0 record earlier this year. On the promotion's last trip to Italy, he made his Bellator debut and stopped Samba Coulibaly in only 36 seconds. However, in this fight, he had a lot of trouble dealing with Leal. He failed to prevent Leal from implementing his grappling game and spent a large part of this fight stuck on the bottom. Nica will probably remain on Bellator cards in Italy for the time being. His record professional falls to 6-1.

Makes quick work of Samba Coulibaly in Bellator debut

April 8, 2017
Mihail Nica defeated Samba Coulibaly via submission (Anaconda Choke) at 0:36 of Round 1 at Bellator 176 in Italy on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
It was Coulibaly who initiated the early grappling sequence, but Nica was able to take advantage, gaining dominant position with a throw before immediately transitioning to the choke. It was a slick sequence from Nica, but it is worth noting that Coulibaly was also making his own debut in this fight on short notice. It will be interesting to see how Nica fares in his next matchup. The 26-year-old improves to 6-0 as a result of the victory.
