Mike De La Torre

Release possible after loss to Myles Jury

April 8, 2017
De La Torre lost to Myles Jury via TKO (punches) at 3:30 of Round 1 at UFC 210 on Saturday in Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
De La Torre looked either unprepared, overwhelmed, or both. He was on the defensive seconds after the opening bell rang and he was never able to recover. Other than grit and experience, De La Torre doesn't offer a whole heck of a lot to the UFC. He is so limited athletically that he has problems handling most of the fighters on the roster. He will probably get one more shot with the company, but a release could easily be on the way in the coming months.

Taps out to RNC in Brasilia Saturday night
FeatherweightUFC
September 24, 2016
De La Torre lost to Godofredo Pepey via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:03 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Brasilia, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
De La Torre's chin is the only thing that kept him from suffering a KO loss in the first couple minutes of this fight. He was under siege from Pepey from the moment the opening bell rang. De La Torre doesn't move particularly well, which began an immediate issue the second the hard-charging Brazilian began pushing forward. De La Torre's overall UFC record (2-3, 1NC) isn't awful, but he just doesn't have the natural ability to compete in the best organization in the world.

De La Torre defeated Yui Chul Nam via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 79 on Saturday in Seoul, South Korea.
ANALYSIS
Avoiding the flailing strikes and takedown attempts of The Korean Bulldozer, De La Torre employed a crisp, technical striking approach en route to his second victory with the promotion. El Cucuy has a defined ceiling within the 145 pound division, but possesses the necessary experience to defeat fighters of Nam's caliber. With a 2-2-1 UFC record, De La Torre will need to gain further traction before receiving a step up in competition.
Mike De La Torre: Victim Of Quick Stoppage On Sunday

De La Torre lost to Maximo Blanco via TKO at 0:16 of Round 1 at The Ultimate Fighter Finale: American Top Team v. Blackzilians on Sunday in Las Vegas
ANALYSIS
You have to feel for De La Torre. The guy went through a full training camp and was ready to fight and then his night was ended early due to a quick stoppage from referee Yves Lavigne. Even though De La Torre got clipped, he seemed to have recovered on the way to the mat and he appeared to be looking to grab a leg in order to drag the fight to the ground. However Lavigne had seen enough and he never gave De La Torre a chance to recover. It's a tough break for a pretty talented fighter. De La Torre falls to 1-2-0, 1NC in his first four UFC bouts.
