Mike Santiago

Suffers third straight loss
LightweightUFC
June 9, 2018
Santiago lost to Dan Ige via TKO (punches) at 0:50 of Round 1 at UFC 225 on Saturday in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Let's just say Santiago didn't put forth a great performance in front of his hometown crowd. Overwhelmed from the moment the opening bell rang, Santiago was credited with just a single strike landed. A former participant on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, Santiago has now dropped all three of his fights with the company. It wouldn't be surprising if the UFC hands him his walking papers in the near future.

Santiago lost to Mads Burnell via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
Santiago looked solid in the first round of this fight. He stopped Burnell's takedowns and controlled the grappling. However, he faded in the second and third rounds. This allowed Burnell to take over with his wrestling. Santiago spent the rest of the fight on the defensive and dropped the decision. He falls to 0-2 in the UFC and 21-11 overall.

Santiago will face Mads Burnell in a featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night 124 on Jan. 14 in St. Louis, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Santiago dropped his promotional debut via submission in September. He gained a spot with the UFC after competing on DWTNCS, where he scored a first-round knockout. His opponent for this fight is in a similar position, having dropped his debut in Rotterdam. The 28-year-old maintains a 21-10 record overall.
Falls in his UFC debut
LightweightUFC
September 2, 2017
Santiago lost to Zabit Magomedsharipov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:22 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night 115 on Saturday in Rotterdam.
ANALYSIS
Santiago took this fight on short notice. He earned a spot in the UFC after defeating Mark Cherico on the seventh episode of "Dana White's Contender Series." However, Santiago was out of his depth here. He tried to close the distance on the feet, but Magomedsharipov was too skilled and landed with a variety of kicks. On the ground, Santiago struggled to hold position. He eventually gave up his back and fell via submission. He falls to 21-10 as a professional with the loss.
