Suffers first UFC loss Saturday in Mexico City
Magomedov lost to Beneil Dariush via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
The numbers across the board were nearly identical, but Magomedov struggled to separate from Dariush in the striking game, which was the one area of the fight where he figured to have a clear advantage. The Russian landed a few hard blows here and there, but they were few and far between. The particularly concerning thing for Magomedov was the fact that he stuffed all five of Dariush's takedown attempts and still lost. It was a disappointing effort for the 31-year-old on the heels of an impressive win in his last fight against Gilbert Burns nearly a year ago to the day.

Looking to improve to 5-0 in UFC career
Magomedov (-130) is favored over Beneil Dariush for their lightweight fight which will take place at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
The only loss on Magomedov's professional docket was a split decision setback to a guy named Magomedrasul Khasbulaev in Kiev, Ukraine in April 2010. He is 4-0 in the UFC and he has defeated a couple other quality opponents outside the organization. Magomedov remains a risk moving forward because his entire offensive arsenal is based off his boxing skills, but he has exhibited elite takedown defense over the course of his UFC career and that makes a huge difference for any fighter who relies on hand speed as much as Magomedov does.

Rashid Magomedov: Easily outpoints Gilbert Burns in Brazil Saturday
Magomedov defeated Gilbert Burns via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov's striking game is pretty much flawless, but his style certainly wouldn't be termed "exciting". Magomedov appeared to have Burns in real trouble throughout all of the second round, but he was methodical in his approach and he never really hunted for a finish. Magomedov is a legitimate top-15 lightweight, but his style isn't one that puts fans in the seats. Still, with a 4-0 record in the UFC, Magomedov is going to get a bigger fight his next time out.

Magomedov has agreed to fight Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night 78 in Sao Paulo, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov has won his first three bouts in the UFC, and owns an 18-1 professional MMA record. The former M-1 champion brings solid striking to the table, and will likely attempt to keep the fight on the feet to avoid the aggressive ground game of Burns. There's also a good chance this fight will go to decision, as 10 of Magomedov's professional fights have ended in that manner.
