Relies on his wrestling and finishes with submission at Bellator 195
Cotton defeated Justin Reeser via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:35 of Round 2 at Bellator 195 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.
ANALYSIS
Cotton, a three-time Division II wrestling champion, was able to control this fight with his wrestling. He scored an early takedown in the first round and spent the rest of the round on top. He did some solid work with his ground and pound, but Reeser was never hurt. In the second round, Reeser came out strong with some strikes, but he could not keep Cotton from taking him down. Towards the end of the round, both fighters were exhausted. Reeser gave up his back, and Cotton finished the rear-naked choke with only one hook in. Cotton improves to 2-0 as a professional and in Bellator. He clearly has talent, but his striking needs to continue to improve.

Escapes with decision victory in professional debut at Bellator 181
Cotton defeated Arron Rodriguez via split decision (30-27, 27-30, 29-28) at Bellator 181 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.
ANALYSIS
This was not another prospect disaster, but Cotton could have looked a lot better. The former NCAA Division II wrestling champion landed six of eight takedowns against Rodriguez, but other than that, he really struggled in this fight. Cotton had trouble landing strikes from the top position, got struck in submissions and ate some hard shots on the feet. American Kickboxing Academy has a long history of turning talented wrestlers in successful MMA fighters, so Cotton will likely end up being a solid fighter. However, he certainly has a lot of work to do.
