Release possible after loss to Jeremy Kennedy
FeatherweightUFC
March 11, 2017
Jason lost to Jeremy Kennedy via unanimous decision (27-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Fortaleza, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Jason's strong second round was sandwiched between particularly poor efforts in Rounds 1 and 3. He allowed Kennedy to score three takedowns in the opening frame and five more in the final stanza. Jason isn't a gifted striker and it's difficult to win a fight when you're spending that much time being controlled by your opponent. Jason is now 0-3 (1NC) in his last four fights and he doesn't have a win in almost exactly three years. He's a candidate for release.

Looking at possible release after loss to Dennis Bermudez
FeatherweightUFC
August 7, 2016
Jason lost to Dennis Bermudez via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
It's safe to say that Jason's first fight in more than 14 months didn't go as planned. The bad times for Jason began immediately in Round 1 when Bermudez landed countless vicious elbows that opened up a massive gash on Jason's forehead. It didn't get much better from there. Jason's best frame was probably the third, but even then he did virtually nothing of note. Bermudez is one of the best featherweights in the world, so that has to be taken into consideration here, but the bottom line is that the 32-year-old Jason, especially after all his time away, isn't good enough to beat the best the world has to offer. He's 1-3 (1NC) in his last five fights and could be looking at a release.
Will fight for first time in 14 months Saturday
FeatherweightUFC
August 5, 2016
Jason (+215) will be the underdog for his co-main event featherweight fight against Dennis Bermudez that will take place at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
It's been more than 14 months since Jason last fought and most of that time away was the result of a PED suspension. Jason began his UFC career with three-straight wins, but he is just 1-2 (1NC) in his last four bouts dating back to November 2013. He's a talented submission specialist, but he doesn't have a notable win in his entire career. Bermudez is a difficult matchup for anyone who has spent more than a year away from the sport.

Jason has completed his nine-month suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com Brazil reports.
ANALYSIS
Jason had an impressive showing last May when he submitted Damon Jackson via triangle choke, but that fight was ultimately ruled a no-contest following Jason's positive test for hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic used to aid in weight cutting. He appears ready to take on a fight as soon as possible, calling out UFC matchmakers in a post on his Instagram account. Due to the weight cutting issues in the past, it's unclear at this time if Jason's next bout will be at featherweight (145 pounds), or if a move up is in order.

Jason has been suspended nine months for testing positive for the banned substance hydrochlorothiazide, FOX Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Jason scored an impressive submission victory at UFC Fight Night in Goiania, Brazil on May 30, but that decision over Damon Jackson has already been ruled a no-contest. He'll now be forced to sit for the next nine months, retroactive to his last fight. The drug he tested positive for, hydrochlorothiazide, is a diuretic that is typically used when a fighter is trying to cut weight, and is currently banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Rony Jason: Picks Up Impressive Submission Win Saturday
FeatherweightUFC
May 30, 2015
Jason defeated Damon Jackson via submission (triangle choke) at 3:31 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Goiania, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Having world-class jiu-jitsu skills is just such an advantage in MMA. Jackson looked like he was in total control of the fight but he exposed his neck, Jason wrapped his legs around it and that led to the finish. Jason was getting dominated for the entire first round but he pulled one out when he needed it. It was a nice bounce back effort for Jason after a split decision loss to Robbie Peralta in his last fight.
