Gracie will enter his open weight fight against Ken Shamrock as a +105 underdog at Bellator 149 on Friday in Houston, Texas.
ANALYSIS
While the idea of Gracie returning to competition for the love of the sport is a romantic one, we would be remiss not to mention Royce's recent issues with the IRS over tax evasion allegations. Indeed, the 49-year-old Gracie, who became a legend of the sport through 11-0 run at UFC 1-4, has suspect motives entering Friday's open weight bout, and will be out-sized by over 10 pounds.

Royce Gracie: Returns to MMA, set to fight Ken Shamrock in February
It was announced by Bellator on Friday night that Gracie will face Ken Shamrock for a third time at Bellator's next tent-pole event which is scheduled to take place on February 19 in Houston.
ANALYSIS
This is neither a typo nor a joke. Gracie, who hasn't fought since June 2, 2007, is indeed returning to fight Shamrock at an "open weight". Arguably the most important figure in the development of modern day MMA, Gracie will be 49-years old by the time next February rolls around. Gracie and Shamrock fought twice in the past - once at UFC 1 in November 1993 and again less than two years later at UFC 5. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, next week's pay-per-view will be UFC 193.
