Shanelle Dyer
Nightmare

England
Awarded contract despite defeat
Dyer lost to Carol Foro via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, she was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Dyer was dropped twice in the opening round and was compromised to the point of the fight nearly getting stopped, but she pushed through to the finish, getting stronger as the fight went on. Her takedowns were not working -- she was 0-for-11 on the night -- so Dyer was forced to bite down on the mouthpiece and press forward. She racked up 35 or more significant strikes in all three rounds, narrowly losing the overall battle 117-to-115 when it was all said and done. It's rare to see a loser get a contract, but the resilience showed here, as well as the willingness to step into the pocket despite a clear power disadvantage, proved to be enough to get the attention of UFC President Dana White.
