Thiago Tavares: Quickly submits Clay Guida Saturday in Brazil
Tavares defeated Clay Guida via submission (guillotine) at 0:39 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo.
ANALYSIS
It's quite clear that Tavares doesn't get paid by the hour. He gave up an alarmingly easy takedown right after the opening bell, but he managed to grab Guida's neck as the two went to the ground and he never let go. It just goes to show how strong Tavares is. Tavares is 5-2 in his last seven bouts, with the two losses coming against Khabib Nurmagomedov and the underrated Brian Ortega. The 30-year-old is right there with the guys in the back end of the top-15 of the featherweight division.

Thiago Tavares: Loses Bloody War To Brian Ortega Saturday
Tavares lost to Brian Ortega via TKO at 4:10 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Tavares suffered two gigantic cuts during the fight and he spent the majority of the bout covered in blood. There's no doubt it affected his ability to see and it became more of a factor as the fight went on. No one would have been surprised if the doctor decided to stop the fight after the second round. Tavares may well have been on his way to winning a decision prior to being stopped late. He was 4-1 in his previous five bouts prior to Saturday's loss.
