Arteaga defeated Denise Kielholtz via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:24 of Round 2 at Bellator 205 on Friday in Boise, Idaho.
ANALYSIS
Arteaga knew she was at a striking disadvantage, but she did not let that deter her. She knew she had to close the distance and pressure the kickboxing champion. In the first round, she ate a lot of shot and consistently got beaten to the punch. In the second round, she broke through with a takedown. Kielholtz got back to her feet and went for her own takedown. Arteaga used the opportunity to lock in a guillotine choke. She had to adjust the grip, but she eventually secured the tap. Arteaga joined Bellator with a 1-0 record in 2016, and she has built a 5-2 record with multiple upsets.

ANALYSIS
Arteaga came into this fight looking to pressure Ellen. She continually tried to close the distance, but Ellen made it very hard. The Brazilian circled away very well and landed counters. Arteaga was able to get the clinch on multiple occasions, but Ellen was able to reverse position along the cage almost every time. In the second round, Arteaga scored a reversal after an Ellen takedown. She did good work on the top, but Ellen managed to stay in the fight. There are still fighters in the Bellator women's flyweight division that Arteaga can beat. She will most likely be in the promotion for her next few fights.

ANALYSIS
Arteaga returned to the cage after dropping her Bellator debut against Anastasia Yankova. This was another close fight, but she did enough to win. She was able to close the distance against the taller and longer fighter. Arteaga did solid work on the ground and in the clinch. At the end of the third round, Mayo had a great deal of swelling above her eye. The referee stopped the fight for the doctor to check it, and the fight was stopped. Arteaga narrowly avoided going to the judges in her third Bellator fight and improved to 2-1.

ANALYSIS
Bellator color commentator Jimmy Smith thought that Arteaga did enough in the first two rounds to take home the upset victory with a 29-28 scorecard. However, two of the three judges disagreed, and Arteaga was forced to swallow her first professional defeat. The Idaho native landed some big power shots in round one, but Yankova and made it a fight. With the defeat, Arteaga falls to 2-1 as a professional.
