Willie Gates: Looks Terrible In Loss To Dustin Ortiz Saturday
FlyweightUFC
August 8, 2015
Gates fell to Dustin Ortiz via TKO at 2:58 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
Gates is quick and a good boxer, but he has no grappling game whatsoever. Ortiz was able to take him down at will and Gates was never able to get back to his feet. As good as Gates looked in his 96 second KO win over Darrell Montague last month was as bad as he looked on Saturday. He isn't in danger of being cut at the moment, but Gates is nothing more than roster depth in a thin flyweight division.

Willie Gates: Picks Up First UFC Win Sunday
FlyweightUFC
July 12, 2015
Gates defeated Darrell Montague via TKO at 1:36 of Round 1 at The Ultimate Fighter Finale: American Top Team v. Blackzilians on Sunday in Las Vegas
ANALYSIS
Gates picked up his first UFC win in style. He had a clear speed advantage in the bout and his fast hands dropped Montague. Gates bounced back well from a loss to John Moraga in his UFC debut in December. Gates has a very engaging personality and his speed could definitely give several fighters in the flyweight division problems.
