Sugano will return to the Giants for the 2021 season, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sugano was posted by the Giants in early December and negotiated with several MLB teams, but he was unable to reach an agreement before his posting window expired Thursday. As a result, he'll return to NPB for the 2021 season after his dominant showing last season. However, the right-hander should be eligible to be posted once again prior to the 2022 campaign. Sugano recorded a 1.97 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over 137.1 innings in 2020.
