Ray Black Jr.
34-Year-Old Driver

Stepping Away from Racing
Prior to the 2020 NASCAR season kicking off at Daytona International Speedway in mid-February, Black Jr. was scheduled to run the full Xfinity Series season for SS Green Light Racing. Less than one month later Black is having to step away from racing to support his family business, frontstretch.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Black's family business is a diving academy that's had no students since the pandemic began. The company helps fund his racing exploits so there's little money for racing right now. Black finished 21st-place in Thursday's Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway, but that will be his last action for a while. "I felt like I needed to help out because it is my family business. I felt like I needed to put racing to the side for a little bit and go help out," Black said. "They definitely need me right now and it's a weird time in the world."
