Wins GTD Pro at Daytona
Ford Multimatic Motorsports delivered the maiden race win for the Ford Mustang GT3 by taking GTD Pro class honors in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Olsen, sharing the No. 65 car with full season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship drivers Chris Mies and Fred Vervisch, secured the win for the 'Blue Oval' by storming past the No. 4 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R at the final restart with 38 minutes to go, sportscar365.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It was a fantastic three-manufacturer battle between BMW, Ford and Chevrolet in the closing hour at Daytona. A late caution would set up a restart and the Ford of Olsen would capitalize, getting by the No. 4 Corvette of Varrone in the final minutes. Olsen would do a good job defending over the remaining laps and hang on to claim Ford's first victory at Daytona in just their second start since introducing the Mustang GT3.
