It was announced that 2019 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year and fourth place 2020 Indy 500 finisher Ferrucci will join Sam Hunt Racing and Toyota Racing Development to begin his transition from open wheel to NASCAR in the Xfinity Series, Sam Hunt Racing PR reports.
Ferrucci is tabbed to make his first start at Homestead-Miami in late February. The IndyCar rising star is poised to race a limited Xfinity Series schedule in 2021 that is focused on intermediate sized ovals. The 22-year-old open wheel driver will face an uphill battle to transition to stock car racing in the upcoming season.
