Making Xfinity start with Hendrick

Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday that Said will drive the No. 17 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Oct. 7 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.

ANALYSIS
Said is a veteran road racer who has victories in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Said has made 29 career starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series that includes a victory in 2010 in Montreal. The 61-year-old last raced in NASCAR in the Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas in 2022. HendrickCars.com will be the sponsor for this part-time Xfinity car as it was for five prior races this season with Hendrick's four Cup Series drivers.

Said stated he has run his last NASCAR race after the 2015 Watkins Glen race. It is assumed he is retired.

The road racing veteran's 2013 plans have not been announced, but it would seem that Said is poised for another year of part-time racing in the Sprint Cup Series.
