ANALYSIS
The defending champions of LMP2 have named Mies, along with Rinus Veekay, Ben Hanley, Garrett Grist and Rob Hodes as pilots of their No. 81 car for the Rolex 24. Mies did not compete in North America last season, but filled his resume with all kinds of accomplishments in Europe. He will be making his Prototype racing debut in the season-opener, but does have three prior starts at Daytona in his Audi factory role. "It means a lot to be back at Daytona for the Rolex 24 after missing last year," said Mies. "It will be my first time in an LMP2 car, so I really appreciate the trust placed in me by DragonSpeed as well as my sponsors Montaplast and Wilhelm May."
