Antonelli had an up-and-down weekend. After crashing in FP2, he recovered to reach Q3 for the first time since the British Grand Prix to line up seventh on the grid. He stuck in that range for much of the race, but he had a penalty imposed against him for erratic driving while battling Alex Albon, pushing him down to an official ninth-place finish. Despite the missteps, Antonelli managed to record points for only the third time in his last 11 races.
