Patrick Carpentier: Cup Start at Sonoma Raceway
Heading into this weekend's event at Sonoma Raceway, the No. 32 Can-Am/Kappa team will head westward to the "Golden State" with Carpentier behind the wheel for the first of two road course events in 2016. Sunday's event will mark Carpentier's first NSCS start since Kansas in 2011, Go FAS Racing PR reports.
ANALYSIS
It's been five long years since Carpentier's last start in NASCAR's top division. He's dabbled in some Rallycross racing since, but has mostly stayed out of the sport. He'll return to the Go FAS Racing team this weekend for a spot start in the No. 32 Ford. Carpentier possesses some good road course racing skills due to his extensive background in open-wheel racing. He should give the No. 32 team a modest shot at cracking the Top 15 in Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350.
