Former NASCAR driver Gordon is once again competing in the Dakar Rally. Gordon is part of a three-vehicle Team Speed operation sponsored by Toyo Tires, NBC Sports reports.

ANALYSIS
While Gordon hasn't raced in NASCAR, he's become one of the top competitors in this annual off-road rally across several countries in South America. He will once again field a Toyo Tires sponsored Hummer and seek that elusive win in this 13-day, 5,739-mile off-road endurance race.

Gordon will probably not participate in NASCAR this season due to his involvement in his new racing project, Robby Gordon's Stadium Super Trucks series. As time has worn on, Gordon has become more involved in off-road racing and his NASCAR team has dwindled.

Gordon looks to improve on a 2005 season that saw many equipment failures, and several poor outings. If Gordon's equipment can hold together in 2006, a much better season awaits.
