Team Penske has been the best in the NTT IndyCar Series this season in oval qualifying, and McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden ensured that powerful trend continued Saturday as they each earned an NTT P1 Award for the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s doubleheader.

McLaughlin continued his control of Portland International Raceway during pre-qualifying practice Saturday for the BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland, leading for the second straight session, IndyCar.com reports.

McLaughlin finished second in the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline at World Wide Technology Raceway Saturday night.

McLaughlin won the pole for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 NTT IndyCar Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 179.972 mph.

McLaughlin wanted to win Saturday's NTT IndyCar Series race at Iowa Speedway, but after doing so he acknowledged wanting something much more, something he has been driven to earn since arriving in the U.S. nearly four years ago. McLaughlin earned that distinction in style, too, dominated the 250-lap race and holding off Arrow McLaren's Pato O'Ward through a series of late-race restarts.
