McLaughlin and Team Penske have had a disastrous season, though he is picking up momentum for 2026. He tallied his first podium since the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix on May 4. The result could have been even better as McLaughlin was running second late in the race but ran into bad luck when a caution was called due to rain. That allowed Christian Rasmussen, the eventual race winner, and others further back in the field to pit for fresh tires. McLaughlin now has three consecutive top-10 finishes.
