Andre-Pierre Gignac News: Returns in Leagues Cup

Gignac (ankle) played 18 minutes in a Leagues Cup match against Houston Dynamo on Tuesday.

Gignac missed only the weekend's clash with Toluca because of a low-grade ankle sprain. Even though he's now fit, the experienced forward is coming off a long recovery from leg and Achilles tendon injuries, so it's unlikely he'll play an extended role right away. He should be a solid alternative to all of Nicolas Ibanez, Angel Correa and Edgar Ivan Lopez up front while taking some direct set pieces when he's on the field.
