Van den Boomen underwent back surgery in May and is still working on his recovery, according to his club.

Van den Boomen underwent surgery well over three months ago after a back injury caused him issues throughout last campaign, finally getting surgery as the season ended. That said, he was expected to miss around four months due to the injury, leaving him with a return around the end of September to start of October. That said, he will hope to see his return in the coming weeks, looking to be fit for the start of UCL play.
