John McCarthy News: Dealt to New York

McCarthy was traded to New York Red Bulls from LA Galaxy, the club announced.

McCarthy is on the way out of LA after a couple very solid seasons with the club. He's been an occasional starter in recent years, though he's largely been a backup. McCarthy will backup Carlos Coronel in New York, after prior backup AJ Marcucci suffered a season-ending knee injury.
