Pauli suffered an ankle injury during FC Koln's training camp in Bad Waltersdorf, but the issue turned out to be less serious than expected as he was spotted training with the ball on Tuesday, Sporting Director Thomas Kessler told the media, according to Geissblog Koeln. "Fortunately, Julian's injury is not as serious as expected. He tore a ligament in his ankle, but we are taking it day by day and hope to have him back available soon."

Pauli suffered a ligament injury to his ankle during FC Koln's pre-season training camp in July, but the issue turned out to be less serious than expected as the young defender was back training with the ball on Tuesday and looked strong on his feet. That said, the Englishman will have to compete for a starting role in central defense after several arrivals over the summer, although he started 14 games across his 17 appearances for FC Koln last season.
