Brassier suffered a bad ankle injury in Saturday's friendly against Real Sociedad and could spend some time on the sidelines, coach Habib Beye confirmed, according to RMC Sport. "I thought it was a knock but it cracked, it didn't grow but he's in pain and really felt it cracked (the ankle), so that is not always good news. But we will wait for the examinations to know the gravity of the injury."

Brassier has been an undisputed starter for Rennes since his return to Brittany and the arrival of new coach Habib Beye, and he has already captained the club. The central defender could, however, begin the Ligue 1 2025/26 season sidelined after suffering a bad-looking ankle injury in Saturday's friendly against Real Sociedad. Depending on the formation, Anthony Rouault, Christopher Wooh, or the young Abdelhamid Ait Boudal could see a larger role in the backline until Brassier returns.
