Mount could miss an extended spell due to an injury he suffered in August, manager Ruben Amorim told reporters before a clash with Manchester City. "They are out, for this game. I don't know how long it's going to take. We need those guys to be a very, very competitive team, but we have very good players that are eager to play so we will be competitive on Sunday, but they are out, they cannot help us in this game."

Mount has no exact timeline for his return, though some reports have suggested he could be facing a month on the sideline. The midfielder has been a big part of the starting XI early in the season, though new signings such as Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo have made his absence less painful. Mount started the first three Premier League matches of the season, prior to this injury.
