Ryan Gravenberch News: Misses Community Shield

Gravenberch missed Sunday's Community Shield defeat against Crystal Palace because his partner gave birth on Saturday, the club announced.

Gravenberch was expected to play in Sunday's Community Shield as he is only suspended for the first game of the season in the Premier League, but ultimately missed the clash against Palace because his partner gave birth on Saturday. This will allow him some family time before returning to competition on the second matchday against Newcastle United on Aug. 25. Until then, Curtis Jones or Dominik Szoboszlai will likely replace him in the midfield alongside Alexis MacAllister.
