William Saliba Injury: Could return Tuesday

Saliba (ankle) needed a few more days to get back to full fitness and couldn't feature in Saturday's victory against Nottingham Forest, coach Mikel Arteta said in a press conference. "He trained yesterday and he did the whole session and he was OK. I spoke to him afterwards and he said I think I need a few more days. The turnaround has been too quick for the extent of the injury so when a player says that, don't push it. I think Mosquera was very, very good."

Saliba trained fully on Friday and was close to returning in Saturday's clash against Forest, but he ultimately felt he needed a few more days to be back fit. This leaves him with a chance to return against Athletic on Tuesday for the Champions League opener. That said, if that game comes too soon for him as well, Cristhian Mosquera will likely replace him again in central defense, as coach Mikel Arteta was really pleased with his performance.
