Yan Couto Injury: Possibility for Opener

Couto (knee) has not suffered a serious injury and could heal in time for Saturday's season opener against St. Pauli, according to manager Niko Kovac, per Matthias Dersch of Kicker. "I hope not too much has happened. I'm confident that in the end it's just a severe bruise."

Couto was stretchered off the field in Monday's DFB Pokal match but appears to have avoided a serious injury after it was reported he could be ready for Saturday's opener. This is good news for the club after the injury to Julian Reyerson (calf), as the club could have a replacement if Couto is able to play. That said, he will still likely be a late call, needing to pass some testing to be an option.
