Yukinari Sugawara News: Joins Werder Bremen on loan

Sugawara has joined Werder Bremen on loan from Southampton for the 2025/26 season, with a purchase option included, his new club announced.

Sugawara has 15 caps for Japan and passed his medical on Monday to sign his first Bundesliga contract. The right-back is fast and can play in every position on the right flank. The Japanese joined AZ Alkmaar in 2019 from Nagoya Grampus and played 198 games for the Dutch side, scoring 14 goals. In 2024, he joined Southampton where he scored one goal in 35 games for the Saints.
