Miranda ended a 19-year career that saw him play in Brazil, France, Spain, Italy and China, but he is perhaps most known for his time with Atletico Madrid from 2011-15, where he tallied 13 goals and four assists across 178 appearances in all competitions and won the Europa League (in 2012), the Copa del Rey (2013) and La Liga (2013/14). The 38-year-old center-back also earned 58 caps with the Brazilian National Team, where he won the 2009 Confederations Cup and the 2019 Copa America and was a starter during the 2015 Copa America and the 2018 World Cup.
