Retires from pro soccer
M/DAngel City FC
August 31, 2023
Ertz announced on her personal Twitter page on Thursday that she's retiring from soccer with immediate effect.
ANALYSIS
Ertz had been contemplating retirement in the past, but she decided to make one last run in the 2023 World Cup before finally calling it a career. She started in every game she was available for both Angel City and the USWNT in 2023, and her leadership will greatly be missed at both club and international level. She is well known for her time spent with the Chicago Stars, spending seven years in Chi Town while making 95 appearances over seven seasons. With the national team, she first made her appearance in 2013 and was an immediate impact to the team. With the USWNT, she was able to win two World Cups, two CONCACAF Championships, four SheBelieves titles and a Bonze Olympic Medal. She was also named U.S Female Player of the year twice while also being a two-time NWSL Champion runner-up.
