McCarthy joined the Galaxy from Los Angeles FC in January 2024. His overall performance could have been better over the season, as the team was carried by LA's highly successful midfield and attacking players. From 37 appearances (including playoffs), he conceded 1.4 goals per game and produced eight clean sheets. Given that the Galaxy won the MLS Cup, eight clean sheets was a bit disappointing. He'll likely be the starting keeper in 2025, but it wouldn't be surprising if the team looked to replace him with a stronger performer.
