Announces retirement
Hernandez will retire from football after a 19 year playing career, ending it with Spanish third tier side CD Castellon.

Hernandez opened his career in the Valencia organization, but was loaned out to a few Spanish clubs before keeping a permanent spot on the senior team. From 2008-2012, he made 111 appearances with Valencia and scored 16 goals. From there, he bounced around from a few clubs in England, Qatar and the UAE before joining Leeds in 2017. The midfielder made 152 appearances while scoring 31 goals with them, playing just one season in the Premier League in 2021. Hernandez never broke out for the Spanish national team, making just four appearances in 2009-10 while also being on the roster when they came in third place during the 2009 Confederations Cup. The only titles he won as a player was the EFL Championship with Leeds, Football League Cup with Swansea City and the UAE League Cup with Al-Nasr.
