Martinelli continued to struggle to live up to the hype of his breakout 2022/23 campaign, as he finished 2024/25 with eight goals and four assists. The left winger still gets plenty of chances in the starting XI but his production as a creator and finisher have been wasteful. Martinelli finished with 40 chances created and 55 shots, both fewer than he managed in 2023/24. The talent and situation are there for a bounce back, but a season with 20 or more goal contributions seems less and less likely by the season.

Martinelli (undisclosed) is out for Wednesday's Carabao Cup match against Brighton and is in need of more testing, according to manager Mikel Arteta, per Simon Collings of The Standard. "[Martinelli] looks as well that he is going to be out. We have to, again, do some more tests and see the extent of the injury. But this game is going to be too early for him."

This will leave him questionable heading into the weekend, also a late call to face Burnley on Saturday. This just adds to the club's injuries in the attacking department, with Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres as their three remaining attackers.
