Sauerbrunn has decided to call it quits after a long and illustrious 16-year career. The defender has been a true pioneer of the sport, especially on the women's side. She would end up appearing in three and winning two World Cups, appearing in three Olympic games, winning eight Concacaf Championships, winning one NWSL shield and three titles while having competed in every season since the NWSL's conception. To put the cherry on top, she would earn seven assists in 187 appearances (168 starts) with the USWNT, being a part of one of the greatest runs of dominance of all time by a team in any sport.
