On Thursday, 'Boro secured the services of Mendieta on a yearlong loan contract from Italian side Lazio after the Spaniard passed a medical on Wednesday.

ANALYSIS
The former Valencia star has not shown much since he joined Lazio in 2002, and was subsequently loaned out to Barcelona for the majority of last season. Mendieta still has tons of experience in big matches and will be a major boost for 'Boro in the coming year.
