Announces retirement
Doyle announced Thursday that he has retired from professional football due to concussion issues. "This year it has been clear to me that heading the ball was becoming problematic and causing me to have repeated headaches," Doyle said. "Two concussions this season and numerous others over the years have made this more concerning. After consulting the experts in this field, it has been decided that to avoid the possibility of these symptoms becoming more serious and permanent, I will be hanging up my boots."

Based on medical advice he received, he has decided to end his playing career, a disappointing end of the 34-year-old's career. He spent the final three years of his 16-year career with the Rapids, scoring 16 goals and assisting eight others in 71 games. Before MLS he played for Reading, Wolverhampton, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace in England, which was preceded by time with Cork City in Ireland.
