Contract terminated by DC United
DC United have terminated Fountas' contract Thursday, Pablo Maurer of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old forward was being investigated for the use of a racial slur against a teammate, and while he was placed on administrative leave following the incident in July, ultimately, he's been released after the league found "credible allegations" of the incident. It's a massive loss for DC United, as Fountas had scored six goals across 17 appearances (12 starts) this season, and it leaves the team without too many options upfront to partner with Christian Benteke.
