Illness
July 13, 2021
Konta announced via Twitter on Tuesday that she will not play in the Olympics due to testing positive for COVID-19.
ANALYSIS
Konta had to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a member of her team testing positive for COVID-19. After self isolating, Konta later picked up symptoms and then tested positive for the virus as well. That has put her training on hold and she didn't feel like she would be ready in time for the Olympics. Her attention will shift to the US Open, which begins Aug. 30.
