Puig (elbow) lost 7-5, 6-2 to Ajla Tomljanovic on Friday at the Credit One Bank Invitational in Charleston.
ANALYSIS
While a loss is always disappointing, it was a step in the right direction for Puig, who has been recovering from a right elbow injury since late 2019. In light of this return, albeit at an exhibition event, it seems Puig will be ready to play when the WTA resumes in August.
