Alcaraz won 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3 over Casper Ruud
in the final of the US Open on Sunday.
Alcaraz won his first major and simultaneously became the youngest player to achieve the world No. 1 ranking as he advanced past the Norwegian behind a display of 55 winners compared to just 41 unforced errors across three hours and 20 minutes of play. The 19-year-old Spaniard's rise to the top spot has been rapid, as he started the year ranked No. 32 in the world. Overall, Alcaraz is the youngest major winner since Rafael Nadal
at Roland Garros in 2005. At his young age, the Spaniard looks poised for many more trophies.
