Retiring from WNBA
Parker announced her retirement from the WNBA on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite signing a one-year deal with the Aces in February, Parker has opted to retire ahead of the 2024 campaign. The veteran played 16 years in the WNBA and won three championships and two MVP awards. Parker battled an ankle injury last year and made only 18 appearances for Las Vegas, averaging 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds -- both career lows. However, she was dominant over the course of her career, averaging 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists over 16 seasons between Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas.

After spending two years in Chicago, the 37-year-old Parker joined the Aces last offseason and made an immediate impact as a starter alongside A'ja Wilson. However, Parker's season was cut short after 18 games due to an ankle injury that sidelined her through the WNBA Finals. Before going down, Parker posted averages of 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.9 blocks per game -- a notable downturn from her peak years but still plenty respectable for a player of her age. Parker is a three-time champion, two-time MVP and one of the greatest players of her generation, and it was unclear whether she'd elect to continue her WNBA career. Despite initially re-signing with the Aces, Parker announced her retirement from the WNBA in late April. Over her 16-year career with the Sparks, Sky and Aces, she averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 30.4 minutes per game while winning three championships and two MVP awards.
