Moore will sit out the 2020 season to focus on criminal justice reform, Kurt Streeter of the New York Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Moore, the 2014 WNBA MVP, is set to miss a second consecutive season as she continues to focus on other aspects of her life, namely her push for criminal justice reform and the release of Jonathan Irons, a man she believes is in prison due to a wrongful conviction. "I'm in a really good place right now with my life, and I don't want to change anything," Moore said in a telephone interview. "Basketball has not been foremost in my mind. I've been able to rest, and connect with people around me, actually be in their presence after all of these years on the road." That said, the 30-year-old forward -- who is still under contract with the Minnesota Lynx -- is not ready to officially call it quits just yet. "I don't feel like this is the right time for me to retire," she said. "Retirement is something that is a big deal and there is a right way to do it well, and this is not the time for me."
