Carleton played primarily off the bench over the first five years of her career, but she started in 36 of 39 appearances in 2024 and had a career-best season, averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 29.9 minutes per game. She claimed her starting role after Diamond Miller sustained a knee injury, and Carleton didn't relinquish the job once Miller was available. Miller showed promise as a rookie, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the two players share more work this year if Miller is fully available. Despite a sizable workload, Carleton wasn't able to generate much offense as the Lynx were eliminated from the playoffs. Playing in her sixth WNBA campaign, Carleton appeared in 44 regular-season contests with averages of 6.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals. Now entering an offseason where she is a free agent, it will be interesting to see if Carleton ends up being selected by an expansion team in the expansion draft, signs elsewhere as a free agent or returns to Minnesota where she has spent a majority of her career.
