2025 Fantasy Outlook
After beginning 2024 as a reserve, McDonald carved out more playing time and earned a starting role in the 10 games ahead of the Olympic break. However, she missed most of the second half of the year due to foot and ankle injuries and was ultimately limited to just 26 appearances last year. The 26-year-old averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game and appears to be back to full health after playing overseas this winter. Kia Nurse and Crystal Dangerfield are no longer with Los Angeles, but the Sparks acquired Kelsey Plum during the offseason and retained Odyssey Sims and Rae Burrell, so McDonald doesn't appear to be guaranteed a starting job in 2025. McDonald will have some fantasy potential if she starts, but she carries some risk after she had an inconsistent role last year. Read Past Outlooks

Done for season
The Fever announced Friday that McDonald has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 campaign after being diagnosed with a broken bone in her right foot.
ANALYSIS
McDonald was on a roll for Indiana, averaging 11.6 points, 5.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 28.0 minutes a night while starting the last nine games for the shorthanded Fever. Sydney Colson (knee) has also been ruled out for the campaign, joining Kristy Wallace (not injury related). Caitlin Clark (groin) remains without a return timetable, so Lexie Hull is a candidate for a major boost in minutes in the meantime. McDonald finishes the campaign with 20 appearances, including a career-high 13 starts.

2022
McDonald is coming off her third year in the WNBA. Her role was nearly identical to the one she held as a sophomore, seeing 23.5 minutes per game and starting nine of her 24 appearances, missing a chunk of time due to a shoulder injury. The guard averaged 7.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and a career-high 3.0 assists while slashing 40/32/76. McDonald is showing upside with her three-ball and her passing ability. She's taking 5.5 triples and dishing out 5.2 dimes per 40 minutes. She isn't shy going to the rack, either, taking 3.0 free throws per 40 minutes, though that was down from 4.6 per 40 in 2022. Atlanta opted to upgrade at the guard position, trading McDonald for Jordin Canada while swapping first-round picks this offseason, so the former will now have to compete for minutes in Los Angeles' crowded backcourt, which will feature Lexie Brown, Layshia Clarendon and Kia Nurse. The Sparks also own two of the top four picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft, so McDonald's fantasy value could take another hit if they opt to add a young guard to the mix.
