Emily Engstler

26-Year-Old ForwardF
 Portland Fire  WNBA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
As a rookie in 2022, Engstler averaged a career-high 18.2 minutes per game for the Fever. However, since then, she's played limited roles for Minnesota and Washington, averaging fewer than 15 minutes per game in each of the past three years. While she averaged double-digit minutes during her two years in Washington, her production was modest, and she started only three of her 72 regular-season appearances. This offseason, she was selected in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft by the Fire. Engstler was Portland's fourth pick, and while the team added a few other forwards ahead of the regular season, the prioritization of Engstler in the draft suggests she'll play a major role in 2026. She has a clear path to a career-high campaign in terms of playing time and production, but her overall skill set remains limited, lowering her fantasy ceiling. Read Past Outlooks
Makes presence felt defensively
FPortland Fire
May 13, 2026
Engstler closed with six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals over 24 minutes during Tuesday's 98-96 win over the Liberty.
ANALYSIS
Engstler wasn't a huge part of the offensive attack, although she stepped out and hit a pair of three-pointers to account for all of her points. She was strong on the defensive end, with all three of her rebounds coming at that end, while adding three of Portland's four blocks while adding a pair of steals. Engstler has recorded three blocks in both of her games so far this season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
Engstler wasn't able to find much work in 2023, as she was limited to just 12 appearances with the Lynx on a hardship contract. She earned a spot on Washington's Opening Night roster but wasn't part of the rotation over the first few games of the season. However, she carved out some playing time when Aaliyah Edwards and Shakira Austin were dealing with injuries and had some fantasy viability as a streamer for most of the year. Over 32 appearances (three starts), Engstler averaged 6.2 points and 4.0 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game. Those were some of the best numbers of her career, with most of her production coming after the Olympic break, but the Mystics will likely prioritize Edwards' development this year, which would presumably lead Engstler on the outside looking in when the team is at full health.
Engstler spent time with the Mystics ahead of the 2023 season on a training camp contract but was waived before the start of the regular season. She had a few stints with Minnesota last year but averaged 1.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game while making just 12 appearances. She'll compete for a roster spot in Washington once again this spring, and her path toward a regular-season role could be easier since the Mystics are rebuilding following several offseason departures. However, even if she remains with the Mystics to begin the regular season, it seems unlikely that Engstler will have much fantasy value outside of as a streaming option.
Engstler was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, but she took a backseat to teammate and second overall pick NaLyssa Smith during her first year with the Fever. Engstler showed some glimpses of production on the boards but scored in double figures in just four of her 35 appearances while also starting just six games. Indiana has the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, and the team selected Aliyah Boston with the first overall pick. With both Smith and Boston in the fold, Engstler was the odd one out and waived by the Fever. Engstler showed some glimpses of potential late in 2022, averaging 7.8 points, four boards, 1.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and a steal over 19.8 minutes in her final five games, and she'll hope to find a role in 2023 with a different club.
