Retreating to bench

FLos Angeles Sparks

September 24, 2026

Cannon will come off the bench Thursday against Golden State, Valkyries' broadcaster Kevin Danna reports.

ANALYSIS
Cannon has started two straight games for the Sparks, but she'll rotate to the bench with Dearica Hamby (knee) returning to the court for the season finale. Expect Cannon to see fewer minutes with Hamby back in action.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2024

2023

2022

Cannon has bounced around the league over the past few seasons, and she landed a contract with the Wings ahead of the 2024 campaign. She had a successful offseason overseas, but she's averaged just 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game over 54 appearances between the Mercury and Fever over the past two seasons. She appeared to be in line to compete for a role in Dallas since Satou Sabally will miss the first half of the regular season, but Cannon was released shortly after the Wings' preseason opener. She was claimed by the Aces shortly after and could compete for a spot as veteran depth, but it seems unlikely that she'll have a fantasy-relevant role if she makes the final roster.

Cannon has played mainly for the Fever during the past two seasons, and she rejoined Indiana ahead of the 2023 campaign. She came off the bench in 21 of her 23 appearances with the team last year and averaged 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. The 33-year-old was an unreliable fantasy contributor off the bench, and the Fever added a number of players in the first round of the 2023 WNBA Draft, No. 1 overall pick Aliyah Boston included, so there may not be a ton of minutes for the veteran on a developing team.

Cannon spent time with the Aces and Sun to begin the 2021 season, but she joined the Fever for the second half of the year and started in six of her 12 appearances. During her time with Indiana, she averaged 6.9 points and 4.5 rebounds over 18.4 minutes while shooting 44.3 percent from the field. The 32-year-old could be in contention starting role to begin the 2022 campaign, but she's unlikely to be a huge fantasy contributor and figures to add competition for playing time during the offseason since the Fever own four of the top 10 picks in the WNBA draft.
